Sports is everything to JBHS; it's fun and exciting, but one sport I have decided to mainly focus on is basketball because it’s interesting how the players think or how they can move their feet and body on the court.

Coach Northington, who is the boy’s basketball team coach, says, “Our team is doing really good this year and off to a good start." They almost won to Springfield high school, but they did fight hard and kept up with Springfield.

I have also asked the coach how he sees his team in a year: “We project to do good and I have high expectations for my team”.

"What to look for in the team is more than just skills," Coach Northington says. He looks for his team to have respect, be responsible, and committed to the basketball programs.

I asked a few basketball players about how they feel basketball is important to them.

Emmanuel Barbee says, “It’s fun to play."

Alycia Schlueter, who is a female basketball player for JBHS, says, “ it’s very stress relieving, fun and keeps you in shape; your friends become a family.”

Collin Harper said that “he has done it all his life growing up and he likes to play basketball”.

I think for JBHS, the basketball team is more than just a game to the players; it is their life and it is a part of who they are. Most of the boys on the team really put their hearts into basketball at games, and they really try their hardest and sometimes they don’t win, but winning is not the point. It is the effort they put into the game and the team.
