Grade Level Requirements: 9 – 12 grade do not currently have an in-school meeting but there are a number of high school students who are members of 4-H and may attend a monthly night meeting that is held at UT Extension office in Springfield on the first Monday of the month.  These students are active in leadership, citizenship, shooting sports, interstate cultural exchange, dramatic improv troupe, beef shows, judging teams, etc.  There is also an opportunity for 9th – 12th grade to receive ½ academic credit on their transcript for competing requirements of their 4-H project work.  Any teen may join the county club or a project club.

Service Hour Requirements: There are no service hours required, but each is expected to complete a club service project during the year.  All 4-H members have opportunities for service project participation.

GPA Requirement:  N/A

Club Information:  4‑H empowers young people with the skills to lead for a lifetime. It’s a research-based experience that includes a mentor, a hands-on project, and a meaningful leadership opportunity.  Based on their interest, youth develop their own pathway in 4‑H. They select from a broad menu of local 4‑H programs. There are hands-on, learn-by-doing, opportunities for everyone. 4-H is for any youth in grades 4th – 12th.  It is one of the largest youth organizations in the world.  At Jo Byrns, club meetings are as described above.  Officers are elected in clubs, communications skills and many lifeskills are taught with a strong emphasis on civic-minded leadership.
